Basic Attention Token (BAT)

Overview

BAT is the ‘digital money’ for the Brave browser - a browser that aims to make online advertising less invasive and more efficient:

  • Advertisers pay BAT to offer targeted ads on the browser
  • Users may opt-in to earn rewards by consuming ads. This allows them to spend their ‘attention’ to earn BAT.
  • Publishers earn BAT based on user interactions with their content.

  • First sold at $0.036 in May 2017 raising a total of $35M 
  • Listed at $0.165 on Bittrex in June 2017
  • All-time high price at $1.90 in November 2021
  • The price is $0.247 as of 17 January 2024
